Known issues on the 1993 525i. Three recalls appear on the federal record here. The first can leave the throttle valve partly open: the plastic bushing that carries the cruise and throttle cables at the throttle housing may break, letting the outer housing catch on the broken edge. The second is a brake light switch that fails stuck, so following drivers get no signal or a permanent one. The third is the cooling system, where overheating can crack the heater core end piece and release hot coolant. Five complaints are recorded, three of them on engine and engine cooling.
