This factory service and repair manual for the 1992 Ford Topaz is written for the GS, the only trim listed, in two-door sedan and four-door sedan form, with the naturally aspirated 2.3L OHV inline-four as its one gasoline engine. Procedures, specifications, torque values, wiring diagrams and diagnostics are organized by system for that engine and body pair. Where the four-door and two-door differ, the manual gives each its own figures; where they do not, a single procedure serves both, which keeps the coverage direct rather than padded with variants.

Known issues on the 1992 Topaz. Ford never recalled the 1992 Topaz. Owners have filed seven complaints with NHTSA, and four of them concern engine and engine cooling, with two more about the tires and one about the electrical system. The engine and cooling reports are the closest thing to a pattern, and the cooling system specifications, engine diagnostics and torque values for the 2.3L overhead-valve four in this manual are the reference for them. The wheel and tire specifications and the wiring diagrams cover the remaining complaints, on either sedan body.
