1989 Ford Topaz Service and Repair Manual
This factory service and repair manual for the 1989 Ford Topaz covers two trims, GLX and GS, in the four-door sedan and two-door sedan, each fitted with the naturally aspirated 2.3L OHV inline-four gasoline engine. There is no second engine and no alternate induction to account for, which lets the procedures, specifications, torque values, wiring diagrams and diagnostics stay focused on that one overhead-valve four and on the differences between the two sedan bodies. The GLX and GS share all of that mechanical material.

Known issues on the 1989 Topaz. The federal recall record for the 1989 Topaz is empty. Owners have filed two complaints with NHTSA, one about the tires and one about the seat belts, with nothing else logged. The manual's wheel and tire specifications and torque values, and its seat belt procedures and inspection steps, are the sections that correspond to those two reports. Beyond them, the procedures, wiring diagrams and diagnostics for the 2.3L overhead-valve four apply unchanged across the GLX and GS and across both sedan bodies.
