1987 Ford Topaz Service and Repair Manual
This factory service and repair manual for the 1987 Ford Topaz covers the four-door sedan and the two-door sedan in three trims, Austero, GLX and GS, all powered by the same naturally aspirated 2.3L OHV inline-four on gasoline. Since there is one engine to document, the procedures, specifications, torque values, wiring diagrams and diagnostics for it are presented once and apply to every trim. The manual then separates the body material by sedan type, so that the two-door and four-door are each handled with their own figures where they diverge.

Known issues on the 1987 Topaz. No recall has ever been issued for the 1987 Topaz. Owners have filed four complaints with NHTSA, three of them about the electrical system and one about the service brakes. Three reports is a small sample, but they point at the same area, and the wiring diagrams and electrical diagnostics in this manual are the reference for tracing that kind of fault on the 2.3L car. The brake procedures, specifications and torque values cover the remaining complaint, and both sets of material apply equally to the two-door and four-door sedans.
