1992 Ford LN8000 Service and Repair Manual
This factory service and repair manual for the 1992 Ford LN8000 is written for the turbocharged 7.8L inline-six diesel (473 cu in), the only engine listed, in a short-conventional tractor or straight truck with Base as the sole trim. Because there is one engine and two chassis, the manual keeps the 7.8L procedures, specifications and torque values together and provides wiring diagrams and diagnostics that reflect the tractor and straight-truck configurations.

Known issues on the 1992 LN8000. The larger 7.8L inline-six is the sole engine, and the sole recall on the federal record points straight at it, since the vibration these engines produce can break throttle return springs. Owner complaints number zero. Spring failure shows up as a throttle that will not return cleanly, so linkage, governor and idle-setting procedures are the ones to have open, with the tractor and straight-truck chassis material otherwise untouched by it.
AS A RESULT OF INHERENT VIBRATION IN THESE ENGINES, THE THROTTLE RETURN SPRINGS CAN FRACTURE.
