Written for the 1990 Lexus ES 250 and no other year, this service and repair manual carries the specifications Lexus set for the 2.5L V6 (2VZ-FE) and the trim your car was built as, so a torque figure or clearance you read here is the one for this car rather than an approximation carried over from an adjacent ES.

Known issues on the 1990 ES 250. One recall is on federal record for this model year, and it covers the suspension: Ride Control recalled certain front strut mounts branded as Gabriel Ride Control or ArvinMeritor, part numbers 142435, 142193, 142305 and 142303, sold as replacement equipment for this vehicle, and the affected mounts did not contain a weld joint between the bearing housing and the rate plate. The absence of the weld can allow the strut to come out of its mounting position under certain extreme driving conditions, which could cause damage to surrounding vehicle components, increasing the risk of a crash. No owner complaints and no technical service bulletins are on record for the year. The diagnostic and repair procedures behind the front suspension and strut assembly are here.
For a front strut mount inspection, a suspension torque check or a routine service interval, it keeps every step on the OEM procedure and the specification listed for this 1990 ES 250.
RIDE CONTROL IS RECALLING CERTAIN FRONT STRUT MOUNTS BRANDED AS GABRIEL RIDE CONTROL OR ARVINMERITOR, P/NOS. 142435, 142193, 142305, 142303, SOLD AS REPLACEMENT EQUIPMENT FOR THE VEHICLES LISTED ABOVE. THE AFFECTED FRONT STRUT MOUNTS DID NOT CONTAIN A WELD JOINT BETWEEN THE BEARING HOUSING AND THE RATE PLATE.
THE ABSENCE OF THE WELD CAN ALLOW THE STRUT TO COME OUT OF ITS MOUNTING POSITION UNDER CERTAIN EXTREME DRIVING CONDITIONS WHICH COULD CAUSE DAMAGE TO SURROUNDING VEHICLE COMPONENTS INCREASING THE RISK OF A CRASH.
RIDE CONTROL WILL NOTIFY OWNERS OF RECORD AND REPLACE THE AFFECTED PARTS FREE OF CHARGE. THE SAFETY RECALL BEGAN ON MARCH 15, 2010. OWNERS MAY CONTACT RIDE CONTROL AT 1-248-458-1396.
