Known issues on the 1990 735i. Two recalls stand on the federal record for this year. In one, the brake light switch can stick, leaving the brake lights either dead or permanently lit, so drivers behind the car cannot tell when it is slowing. In the other, a failing thermostat, water pump or fan belt raises coolant temperature and pressure until a crack or an opened seam at the heater core end piece expels hot coolant into the cabin.
