1989 Chevrolet Celebrity Service and Repair Manual
This factory service and repair manual for the 1989 Chevrolet Celebrity is written for the sedan and the wagon in Base, CL and Eurosport trim. The engine choice is between a naturally aspirated 2.8L overhead-valve V6 of 173 cubic inches and a naturally aspirated 2.5L overhead-valve inline-four of 151 cubic inches, both on gasoline. The two bodies share their front structure and running gear, so the differences a technician meets are behind the B-pillar, in rear glass, tailgate, load floor and the harness that runs back to them.

Known issues on the 1989 Celebrity. One recall sits on the federal record. It covers the rear outboard safety belt anchorages, which may not hold the load they are required to carry: in a collision the metal at the attachment can tear and let the anchorage pull away from the body, so the belt no longer protects the occupant. Fifty owner complaints have been logged, led by eight on the service brakes and six each on engine cooling and the electrical system. Anchorage bolt torque, belt assembly service, brake overhaul and cooling diagnostics are all specified in this manual.
