Known issues on the 1984 Celebrity. Four recalls sit on the federal record. One of them starts nowhere near the brakes: a missing retaining clip lets the clutch cable rest against the master cylinder brake pipe, and over time the cable wears through the pipe, so fluid escapes and the front brakes go. Another covers fuel leaking at the throttle body injection feed pipe connection, which can set off an underhood fire. A third involves bucket seat back locks that may not hold in a crash, and the fourth a replacement fuel filter that seals poorly. Twelve complaints were logged, five of them on steering.
