Known issues on the 1988 929. Two recalls are on federal record for this model year. The first covers the front door latches: resin-molded front handles can fail at the point where the latch actuating rod attaches, letting the rod drop inside the door frame, and lowering the window can then force the rod down and release the latch, so the door can open unexpectedly and an occupant could fall out. The second covers the front seat belt buckles: the red plastic "PRESS" release buttons can break, and broken pieces falling into the buckle assembly can keep it from operating properly, leaving the belt unable to protect an occupant in a crash. Owners have filed 38 complaints for the year.
