1985 GMC G3500 Service and Repair Manual
This factory service and repair manual for the 1985 GMC G3500 spreads its body coverage across five forms, standard cargo, extended cargo, standard passenger and extended passenger vans on three doors, plus a 2-door cutaway van. Three naturally aspirated overhead-valve engines are documented: the 4.3L V6 of 262 cubic inches, the 5.7L V8 of 350 and the 6.2L diesel V8 of 379. Seven trims, from Magnavan through the Rally family to Vandura and Vandura Special, are covered. The book is arranged so a technician meets one system at a time, with its procedures, specifications, torque values, wiring diagrams and diagnostics kept together.

Known issues on the 1985 G3500. The 1985 G3500 has a clean federal record, showing no recalls and no owner complaints at NHTSA. That puts the manual's weight on service data: specifications for the 4.3L V6 and 5.7L V8, service procedures for the 6.2L diesel, torque values for a one-ton chassis carrying the extended bodies as well as the standard ones, and wiring diagrams that follow the harnesses out to the rear of a long van. Diagnostics are provided for each of those systems, cutaway chassis included.
