This factory service and repair manual for the 1984 GMC S15 covers four engines in a compact truck: a 2.8L overhead-valve V6 of 173 cubic inches, a 2.0L overhead-valve inline-four, a 1.9L single-overhead-cam inline-four, and a 2.2L overhead-valve inline-four diesel of 134 cubic inches. Known issues on the 1984 S15. The federal record for this year is clean: no recalls, and no owner complaints logged with NHTSA. The manual's job is therefore ordinary service, and the diesel makes that a wider job than the size of the truck suggests — injection timing, glow plug circuit testing and compression specifications for the 2.2L, against carburetion and ignition work on the three gasoline engines. Brake, steering, suspension and driveline procedures follow, with torque values, wiring diagrams and diagnostics throughout.
SOME VEHICLES HAVE BUCKET SEAT BACK LOCKS THAT DO NOT CONFORM TO FEDERAL MOTOR VEHICLE SAFETY STANDARD 207, ANCHORAGE OF SEATS. IN EVENT OF A CRASH, THE SEAT BACK LOCK MAY NOT FUNCTION.
