1984 Chevrolet C10 Service and Repair Manual
This factory service and repair manual for the 1984 Chevrolet C10 covers three trims on one two-door standard cab pickup but four engines beneath it: the 4.1L inline-six of 250 cubic inches, the 5.0L and 5.7L gasoline V8s of 305 and 350, and the 6.2L diesel V8 of 379 cubic inches. Custom, Scottsdale and Silverado change equipment rather than mechanicals. The diesel is what widens the book, since its fuel supply and starting procedures share little with the gasoline engines beside it, and the specifications, torque values and diagnostics are arranged to keep the two from being confused.

Known issues on the 1984 C10. The federal record shows one recall for this year, covering a replacement oil filter whose seal can give way and let engine oil escape, with fire the stated risk. Five owner complaints sit on two systems only: three on the engine and engine cooling and two on the fuel system. Both fall inside the mechanical heart of this manual, which gives cooling system pressure and flow checks, thermostat and coolant specifications, oil pressure testing, fuel delivery diagnostics and the torque values for every joint those jobs disturb.
