Known issues on the 1982 C10. Three recalls sit on the federal record. One concerns a replacement oil filter that can seal poorly, bleed engine oil and set up a fire risk. Another involves rear brake drum balance weights fouling the aluminum wheels, which can back the lug nuts off until a stud fails and the wheel separates from the truck. The third covers a locking screw that can work loose in the differential and let the pinion shaft shift, jamming the gears or cutting drive to the rear wheels.
