Toyota brought the Crown back for 2023 as a hybrid-only sedan, and it does not use a single hybrid system. Depending on the car, the engine is the naturally aspirated 2.5L four (A25A-FXS) or the turbocharged 2.4L (T24A-FTS), two different engines rather than variants of one, each with its own torque values, clearances and diagnostic routines. The specifications that matter are the ones Toyota published for this model year and for the powertrain actually in the car, not numbers carried over from an adjacent year.

Known issues on the 2023 Crown. Three recalls stand on federal record for this model year, and two of them are camera faults. The first, on cars fitted with the Panoramic View Monitor, is a back-over prevention display-function defect: a rearview camera that fails to display an image can reduce the driver's view behind the vehicle. The second covers 2023 Crown vehicles equipped with rearview and/or frontview cameras whose cases were built with insufficient laser welding; here too, a rearview camera that does not display an image can reduce the driver's view. The third is an electrical fault in the instrument cluster and panel: an instrument panel display that does not show critical information can increase the risk of a crash. Owners have logged 28 complaints for the year, and Toyota has issued 136 technical service bulletins.
From a rearview camera that comes up blank to a dead segment in the instrument panel or a scheduled hybrid-system service, the work stays on Toyota's own procedure and on the specification set for the 2023 Crown.
