Known issues on the 2021 S. The 2021 S carries 23 recalls on the federal record. On certain cars the driver air bag could split open as it deployed and fail to cushion the occupant; the bag assembly was replaced. Certain cars running one specific software release could show the rear camera image late after reverse was selected, fixed by a later update. Owners lodged 178 complaints, with forward collision avoidance at 47, steering at 29 and the electrical system at 25. Of those, 13 reported a crash, 2 a fire, 3 an injury and 1 a death.
