Known issues on the 2017 GTI. NHTSA lists 2 recalls for it. One recalled certain front-wheel-drive 2017 GTI vehicles in which a defective seal on the jet pump inside the fuel tank could send fuel into the EVAP system, where it might leak from the charcoal canister and create a fire risk near an ignition source; the pump was replaced. The other recalled certain 2017 GTI vehicles fitted with keyless entry, a manual handbrake and an automatic gearbox, because silicate on the shifter's micro switch could let the key be pulled with the lever out of Park.
