Known issues on the 2015 MKC. The 2015 MKC has 12 recalls on the federal record. On certain 2015 MKC vehicles, the battery monitor sensor could short and overheat, starting an engine compartment fire whether parked or driving; owners were told to leave the vehicle parked outdoors, clear of buildings, until dealers added an in-line fuse. Certain 2015 MKC vehicles with the 2.0L engine could have an engine block heater that cracks, leaks coolant and shorts when plugged in. Owners filed 130 complaints: engine 33, electrical system 23, power train 18, back over prevention 15 and fuel/propulsion system 12. Of those, 7 reported a crash, 2 an injury and 1 a fire.
