Known issues on the 2012 Outlander. Six recalls are recorded for the 2012 Outlander. One applied to certain 2012 Outlander vehicles that received a replacement six-speed automatic transmission in service, where the transmission housing could rub the power steering pressure tube until it wore through and leaked fluid, taking away steering assist. Dealers replaced the pressure and return tubes. A second concerned certain vehicles built in a stated production window whose wiper linkage ball joint could corrode and separate. Owners filed 22 complaints; power train leads with 6, and engine, service brakes, suspension and visibility and wipers have 3 apiece. One complaint reported a crash.
