Known issues on the 2012 Cruze. The federal record carries seven recalls for the 2012 car. Three of them concern a shorting bar in the driver's frontal air bag that can intermittently touch the bag's terminals and leave it undeployed in a crash. Another covers omitted welds on the fuel tank strap brackets, which can let the tank come loose and leak after an impact. A further condition is an electric vacuum pump that may not run, taking away supplemental brake assist and lengthening the pedal effort needed to stop. Complaints number 865, spread across the electrical system at 134, the engine at 129 and the power train at 126.
