Known issues on the 2011 ML450. For the 2011 ML450, NHTSA lists three recalls. The first involved certain vehicles with a driver frontal airbag whose inflator could burst as it deployed, sending metal pieces into the cabin; dealers fitted a new module. The remaining two were brake booster campaigns covering certain vehicles in which trapped moisture could corrode the booster housing and weaken or disable the brakes. Owners of those SUVs were advised not to drive them until the booster had been inspected and replaced where necessary. The brake system, airbag circuits and hybrid drive are covered with procedures, wiring diagrams and diagnostics.
