Known issues on the 2010 Commander. Four recalls are on federal record for this model year: an ignition module fault that can allow the key to be removed from the ignition switch; a hydraulic service-brake defect that can cause brake failure without warning (crash risk); a four-wheel-drive transfer case that can shift into neutral and let the vehicle roll away (crash risk); and an equipment defect that can reduce vehicle stability (crash risk). Owners have filed 70 complaints and 21 technical service bulletins have been issued for this model year.
From a routine service interval to a hard-to-trace electrical fault, it keeps you on the factory procedure and the correct specification for your specific 2010 Commander.
Chrysler Group LLC (Chrysler) is recalling certain model year 2005-2010 Jeep Grand Cherokee vehicles manufactured February 11, 2004, through March 9, 2010; and 2006-2010 Jeep Commander vehicles manufactured January 31, 2005, through March 10, 2010. A transfer case electrical failure may result in an unintentional shifting of the transfer case into the neutral position.
If the vehicle shifts into neutral, it may roll away increasing the risk of a crash or personal injury.
Chrysler will notify owners, and dealers will reflash the final drive controller which governs the transfer case, with new software, free of charge. The recall began on August 15, 2013. Owners may contact Chrysler at 1-800-247-9753. Chrysler's recall campaign number is N23.
CHRYSLER IS RECALLING CERTAIN MODEL YEAR 2010 CHRYSLER 300, DODGE CHALLENGER, CHARGER, JEEP COMMANDER, GRAND CHEROKEE AND DODGE RAM VEHICLES. THESE VEHICLES MAY HAVE BEEN BUILT WITH A WIRELESS IGNITION NODE (WIN) MODULE EXHIBITING A BINDING CONDITION OF THE SOLENOID LATCH.
THE RESULT OF THE DEFECT COULD LEAD TO A CONDITION WHERE THE KEY MAY BE REMOVED FROM THE IGNITION SWITCH (WIN MODULE) PRIOR TO PLACING THE SHIFTER IN PARK. THIS COULD RESULT IN THE POTENTIAL FOR UNINTENDED VEHICLE MOVEMENT AND COULD INCREASE THE RISK OF A CRASH.
DEALERS WILL INSPECT AND REPLACE THE WIN MODULE FREE OF CHARGE. THE SAFETY RECALL IS EXPECTED TO BEGIN ON OR BEFORE AUGUST 23, 2010. OWNERS MAY CONTACT CHRYSLER AT 1-800-853-1403.
CHRYSLER IS RECALLING MODEL YEAR 2010 JEEP COMMANDER AND GRAND CHEROKEE VEHICLES. THEY MAY HAVE BEEN BUILT WITH AN IMPROPERLY MANUFACTURED REAR TRACK BAR.
REDUCED VEHICLE STABILITY COULD OCCUR INCREASING THE RISK OF A CRASH.
DEALERS WILL INSPECT THE REAR TRACK BAR BUSHING RETAINING HOOP AND REPLACE THE REAR TRACK BAR IF ANY ARE FOUND TO BE MIS-POSITIONED. THE SAFETY RECALL IS EXPECTED TO BEGIN DURING APRIL 2010. OWNERS MAY CONTACT CHRYSLER AT 1-800-853-1403.
CHRYSLER IS RECALLING CERTAIN MODEL YEAR 2010 CHRYSLER SEBRING; DODGE AVENGER AND NITRO; JEEP LIBERTY, COMMANDER AND GRAND CHEROKEE; AND MODEL YEAR 2009-2010 DODGE RAM TRUCK. THESE VEHICLES MAY HAVE BEEN BUILT WITH AN IMPROPERLY FORMED OR MISSING BRAKE BOOSTER INPUT ROD RETAINING CLIP.
THIS COULD RESULT IN BRAKE FAILURE WITHOUT WARNING WHICH COULD CAUSE A CRASH.
CHRYSLER WILL REPLACE THE BRAKE BOOSTER INPUT ROD RETAINING CLIP FREE OF CHARGE. THE SAFETY RECALL IS EXPECTED TO BEGIN DURING FEBRUARY 2010. OWNERS MAY CONTACT CHRYSLER AT 1-800-853-1403.

THE BATTERY LIGHT CAME ON ABOUT 5 MINUTES AFTER I STARTED DRIVING THROUGH RESIDENTIAL STREETS AND ONTO A FREEWAY. I EXITED THE FREEWAY AND WENT TO THE AUTO STORE WHERE I HAD ORIGINALLY PURCHASED THE BATTERY FROM, ABOUT A YEAR AGO, WHICH IS LESS THAN 5 MILES FROM MY HOUSE. THEY TESTED MY BATTERY AND SAID THE BATTERY WAS GOOD BUT MY ALTERNATOR WAS BAD. I DROVE MY JEEP COMMANDER HOME AND PARKED IT IN THE GARAGE, PER USUAL. WHEN I EXITED MY JEEP THERE WAS NO ODOR, NO SMOKE, NO SOUND OF ANY SORTS COM

THE THIRD TIME SHE ATTEMPTED SHE STEPPED OUT THE VEHICLE AFTER SHE SMELLED ABNORMAL FUMES AND SOMEONE ALERTED HER THAT THERE WERE FLAMES COMING FROM UNDER THE VEHICLE. THE FIRE WAS LOCATED ON THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE WHERE THE ENGINE WAS LOCATED. THE FIRE DEPARTMENT WAS CALLED AND EXTINGUISHED THE FLAMES. THERE WERE NO INJURIES.

WHILE DRIVING OUT TO MY PARENT'S WITH MY DAUGHTERS MY JEEP JUST SHUT DOWN,{STALLED} WHILE GOING 50-55 MPH. LOST POWER STEERING AND BRAKES, HAD TO SHIFT INTO NEUTRAL AND RE START. THIS HAPPENED FOUR MORE TIMES IN THE NEXT 8.4 MILES. AFTER DROPPING OF MY KIDS MY HUSBAND FOLLOWED ME TO THE DEALERSHIP TO DROP IT OFF. ABOUT 9 MILES AWAY, AND IT SHUT DOWN 6 MORE TIMES AT VARIOUS SPEEDS. DEALER DOES NOT KNOW WHAT'S WRONG AND IS WAITING UNTIL MONDAY TO GET A RESPONSE FROM CHRYSLER HEAD QUARTERS. *TR

I HAVE HAD TWO FAILURES IN THE LAST THREE MONTHS WITH THE TPS TIRE PRESSURE SENSOR SYSTEM RESULTING IN TWO FLAT TIRES AT INTERSTATE SPEEDS WITH THE LOSS OF ONE TIRE COMPLETELY. THE NUT THAT FASTENS THE SENSOR TO THE RIM HAS CORRODED AND JUST CRUMBLED IN MY HAND WHEN ATTEMPTING TO REMOVE IT. IS THIS A COMMON PROBLEM, AND HAS THERE BEEN A RECALL TO REPAIR THIS DEFECT? HAVE HAD TO CALL AAA TWICE TO REMOVE AND REPLACE TIRES.

I JUST PURCHASED A USED 2010 JEEP COMMANDER LIMITED WITH 5.7 HEMI FROM PHILPOT MOTORS AND BROUGHT IT HOME JUNE 25TH, 2012. ON FRIDAY, JUNE 29TH ON MY WAY HOME THE ENGINE COMPLETELY SHUT OFF TWICE WITHIN 10 MINUTES. BOTH TIMES IT WAS AS I WAS COMING TO A COMPLETE STOP. I HAD TO PUT IT IN PARK AND TURN THE KEY AND IT STARTED RIGHT BACK UP LIKE NOTHING WAS WRONG. PHILPOT HAD IT BROUGHT TO AN AUTHORIZED JEEP DEALER (ALLEN SAMUELS) WHERE IT SAT FOR 2 WEEKS AND THEY COULDN'T FIGURE IT OUT OR REPRODUC

The engine failed while driving at major intersection. Multiple individuals had to assist and avoid causing an accident. After a week at diagnostic Jeep service department, techs determined compression failure in cylinders 2 and 4 with 0 psi. There no codes or check engine lights other than a brief blinking right before failure.
The electrical system of my car malfunctioned intermittently causing lights, ac, and the engine itself to go off and on in the middle of the freeway. There was a recall on the 2010 Jeep Commander (same as my car) for faulty electrical system, yet my VIN was excluded. I believe it should have been included in the recall and this faulty electrical system was the cause of multiple repairs done at my expense to the tune of a couple thousand dollars. I ask for a query into this. The electrical system
