Fitment for this factory service and repair manual is fixed to the 2010 Jaguar XK in particular, down to the 5.0L V8 and the two-door bodies Jaguar built that season, so every clearance, torque figure and service sequence in it is what Jaguar published for this car rather than a value carried over from an adjacent model year.

Known issues on the 2010 XK. Two recalls stand on federal record for this model year. The first is filed against the hydraulic power assist steering hoses, piping and connections: on certain 2010 XK cars the power assist steering pipes were supplied with zinc-nickel plating that does not meet fully the corrosion protection requirements of Jaguar's engineering specification, and after an extended period of time in service corrosion of the PAS pipes will occur that may lead to pin-holing of the pipe. Pin-holing could allow pressurized power steering fluid to leak into the under-hood and engine bay area; a loss of power steering fluid will result in a loss of power assist steering, and that fluid may ignite if it comes into contact with an ignition source or a surface at a sufficiently high temperature, causing a vehicle fire. The second is filed under engine and engine cooling: the in-tank electric fuel pump may not be correctly activated as the fuel pump relay is not energized following a vehicle start up cycle, and the fuel starvation that follows leads to engine stumble followed by engine cut out with minimal warning, which could potentially cause a crash. Owners have filed 6 complaints for the year. The factory diagnostic and repair procedures behind each of those systems are here.
Tracing a cut-out back to the fuel pump relay circuit, inspecting the PAS pipework for corrosion before it pin-holes, or working a scheduled service on the 5.0L V8, it holds you to the OEM procedure and the right figure for your 2010 XK.
