2008 Chevrolet Impala Service and Repair Manual

This factory service and repair manual for the 2008 Chevrolet Impala has six trims to keep straight — the 50th Anniversary Edition, LS, LT, LTZ, Police and SS — on one four-door sedan body. Three naturally aspirated overhead-valve engines run beneath them: a 3.5L V6 of 213 cubic inches and a 3.9L V6 of 237, both able to burn flex-fuel, and a 5.3L V8 of 325 cubic inches on gasoline. Fuel and emissions diagnostics treat the alcohol-capable engines separately from the V8.

Known issues on the 2008 Impala. Only two recall entries stand against this year at the federal level. One applies only to the Police cars, whose front lower control arms can fracture and cost the driver control of the vehicle. The other covers an ignition switch that can be moved out of the run position, leaving the air bags inactive in a crash. Owners have brought 810 complaints, led by the electrical system at 189, suspension at 105 and steering at 94.
