That engine is naturally aspirated and gasoline-fueled, with a single overhead camshaft arrangement, and Base is the trim the data gives. Known issues on the 2006 SL500. For this year the SL500 has 12 complaints, four about suspension and three about the service brakes. NHTSA filed two recalls against wider groupings. Against the 2006 R230-chassis models, one covered certain cars equipped with Active Body Control: solder points on the front acceleration sensor boards could fall outside tolerance, so one front strut might react to body motion while the other did not. Against the 2006 SL-Class line, certain vehicles given incorrect software coding during a workshop visit might not cut power to the fuel pump after a crash; dealers recoded them. One more complaint names the 2006 SL-Class line. Suspension and fuel system procedures, specifications, wiring diagrams and diagnostics are covered.
