2006 Chevrolet W4500 Tiltmaster Service and Repair Manual
This factory service and repair manual for the 2006 Chevrolet W4500 Tiltmaster documents a straight truck available with a low crew cab or a low tilt cab, in the single W4S042 specification, and powered either by the naturally aspirated 6.0L OHV V8 of 364 cubic inches on gasoline or by the turbocharged 5.2L inline-four of 317 cubic inches on diesel. Because the two engines demand different fuel, air and exhaust routines, the manual splits those chapters and keeps the chassis, driveline and cab material common.

Known issues on the 2006 W4500 Tiltmaster. Three recalls sit on the federal record. One covers a fuel tank that can corrode until it leaks, with fire the risk once escaped fuel meets an ignition source. Another covers diesel seeping from the fuel pipe where it joins the supply pump, again a fire hazard. The third covers oil pipe bolts left under-tightened in production, which can work loose, let oil escape past the seals and eventually seize the engine, dropping road speed suddenly. One complaint, on engine and engine cooling, was logged. Fuel lines, tanks and engine lubrication are all specified and torqued here.
