Known issues on the 2005 Monterey. Four recalls are listed. One covers a torque converter output shaft that can break and cause a sudden, unwarned loss of drive. Another concerns the power liftgate, whose motor disengages once the gate is open, so a failing support strut lets the gate fall freely onto anyone beneath it. A third-row seat can be left unlatched and shift in a rear impact, and replacement fuel filter quick connectors can separate and spill fuel.
