Known issues on the 2003 9-5. First among the 4 recalls on the 2003 9-5 is an ignition fault: certain cars equipped with the six-cylinder engine could suffer an overheated transistor inside the ignition discharge module and stall, and dealers replaced older modules. Certain cars had damaged fuel pump tabs that could let the fuel lines loosen and leak. Certain cars also missed an interior head-impact requirement at an upper test point and received more energy-absorbing A-pillar trim. The electrical system appears in 25 of the 47 owner complaints, engine and engine cooling in 8; 1 reported a crash and 1 an injury.
