Known issues on the 2002 9-5. With 6 recalls on its record, the 2002 9-5 includes a campaign covering 2,601 vehicles aimed at certain cars whose steering knuckle castings may have been contaminated during casting and could break, costing steering control; knuckles from the suspect batch were replaced. Certain cars equipped with the B308 six-cylinder engine could overheat a transistor in the ignition discharge module and stall. Certain cars also failed an interior head-impact requirement at an upper test point, and dealers fitted A-pillar trim that absorbs more energy.
