The federal record holds one recall for the 2003 CL600: on certain cars, heat and humidity could corrode the steel inside the Active Body Control high-pressure hose until hydraulic fluid leaked onto hot engine parts and risked a fire, and dealers fitted corrosion-resistant hoses. NHTSA separately filed three recalls against wider lines, two against the 2003 CL-Class line, one of them for certain vehicles whose trunk lid springs could fail, and one against 2003 C215-chassis models for certain cars equipped with Active Body Control front-strut acceleration sensors whose faulty solder joints could leave the front suspension sitting unevenly.
