Known issues on the 2000 Excursion. Six recalls are on federal record. Two involve the speed control deactivation switch, which could overheat and start an underhood fire, on gasoline and on diesel trucks respectively. Another covers a switch in the wiper motor gear case cover that could overheat, and a fourth the camshaft position sensor on 7.3-liter diesels, which could work intermittently and stall the engine. Replacement wheel hub assemblies and a headlamp switch knob that could fracture round out the list. Owners have filed 550 complaints with NHTSA, most about tires, then the electrical system and engine and cooling.
