1999 Isuzu Amigo Service and Repair Manual

Isuzu widened the Amigo lineup for 1999 by adding a hardtop version alongside the two-door soft-top convertible. The S trim continued with a choice of the 2.2L DOHC four-cylinder or the 205-hp 3.2L DOHC V6. Known issues on the 1999 Amigo. Four recalls are on federal record: a safety improvement campaign replacing 2.2L four-cylinder timing belts that could break early and stall the engine (01I002000); corrosion in salt-belt states at the forward mounting bracket for the rear suspension lower link, which can detach from the frame (12V306000); ABS control software that could lengthen stopping distances, fixed with a revised algorithm (02I002000); and unevenly painted rear axles that can let the rear lower link bracket nut loosen and the link separate (00V058000). NHTSA also holds 70 owner complaints, most often citing service brakes, brake hydraulics and suspension.
