Known issues on the 1995 Mark VIII. NHTSA lists one recall for the 1995 Mark VIII. It reached certain 1995 Mark VIII vehicles whose speed control deactivation switch could develop an internal leak, heat up and smoke or burn, a potential cause of an underhood fire; the interim step was to disconnect the switch, with a fused wiring harness to be installed once parts became available. Owners filed 136 complaints: exterior lighting 103, hydraulic service brakes 12, structure 6, and the electrical system and power train 5 each. Twelve reported a crash, 3 an injury and 1 a fire.
