Known issues on the 1993 Typhoon. Three recalls are on the federal record. A replacement fuel return line can leak at a bleed valve that was not tightened to specification, and a replacement fuel filter can seal poorly at its connection — both raising the risk of fire. The third concerns the transmission shift cable, whose fitting end can separate from the outer conduit so that the selector lever no longer reflects the gear actually engaged, leaving the vehicle able to roll away or drive off unexpectedly. Of 18 owner complaints, service brakes account for most.

A FUEL LEAK CAN OCCUR AT THE VALVE, POSSIBLY RESULTING IN A FIRE.
Remedy
R&B, INC. WILL NOTIFY OWNERS AND AT THE CUSTOMERS REQUEST, EITHER REPLACE THE FUEL LINE OR OFFER A F
SEPARATION OF THE TRANSMISSION SHIFT CABLE FITTING END (VEHICLE INTERIOR) AND THE OUTER CABLE CONDUIT.

I HAVE BEEN THE SOLE OWNER OF THIS WELL MAINTAINED VEHICLE SINCE IT WAS PURCHASED NEW. I NOTICED GASOLINE LEAKAGE FROM THE GAS TANK ONTO MY GARAGE FLOOR. WHEN REPAIRED BY A GMC DEALERSHIP, I WAS TOLD
WHEN APPLYING BRAKES IN AN EMERGENCY SITUATION PEDAL GET HARDS AND THE TRUCK TRAVELS AN ADDITONAL 200 FEET BEFORE STOPPING. THIS CONDITION COULD CAUSE A CRASH. PROBLEM WAS REPORTED TO THE DEALERSHIP.
WE HAD BEEN TOLD THERE WAS A BUY BACK AGREEMENT BY GMC BECAUSE OF ANTI-LOCK BRAKE FAILURES. WE CANNOT FIND OR CONFIRM THIS INFORMATION.
