1993 Ford FT900 Service and Repair Manual
This factory service and repair manual for the 1993 Ford FT900 has two turbocharged diesels to sort out, the 8.3L inline-six of 504 cubic inches and the 7.8L inline-six of 473, in a medium conventional sold as either a tractor truck or a straight truck. A single Base trim applies. The two engines are close in size but not interchangeable in service data, so displacement-specific specifications, torque values and diagnostics are kept apart throughout the engine chapters.

Known issues on the 1993 FT900. Two recalls are on the federal record for this model year. One concerns throttle return springs that can fracture under the vibration these engines produce; the other covers a hand throttle cable that wears the brass swivel block on the governor lever it passes through. NHTSA holds no owner complaints against it. Both campaigns point at the same corner of the truck, so the governor, throttle linkage and speed control procedures, with their adjustments and torque values, see the most use.
AS A RESULT OF INHERENT VIBRATION IN THESE ENGINES, THE THROTTLE RETURN SPRINGS CAN FRACTURE.
THE HAND THROTTLE CABLE CAN WEAR THE BRASS SWIVEL BLOCK ON THE GOVERNOR LEVER THROUGH WHICH IT PASSES.
