Known issues on the 1992 300CE. One recall in NHTSA's records names the 1992 W124-chassis models. In certain cars of that chassis the metal footrest on the passenger side could slowly wear through the wiring harness beneath it, and the resulting short might overheat wires, stall the engine or trigger an air bag. Dealers added cable ties and edge guards.
