Known issues on the 1990 300CE. NHTSA filed one recall against certain 1990 W124-chassis passenger cars, a group whose description names the 300E, CE, TE, D, E 4MATIC and TE 4MATIC. In certain of those cars the plastic housing over the auxiliary fan's preresistor could melt under some conditions and ignite, causing a fire under the hood; a preresistor with a metal cover replaced it.
