Known issues on the 1991 300SL. The 1991 R129-chassis models were the subject of one NHTSA recall. On certain cars a headlamp wiper arm could slip out of line and wedge its blade below the lamp, and if the washers were then used, the pump kept running until the reservoir was empty and could overheat enough to start a fire; dealers fitted a new pump. Two complaints name the 1991 300SL, one on vehicle speed control and one on the electrical system, and a separate complaint, on air bags, was filed against the 1991 R129-chassis models. Washer, wiring and restraint procedures, diagrams and diagnostics are covered.
