1988 GMC S15 Jimmy Service and Repair Manual
This factory service and repair manual for the 1988 GMC S15 Jimmy lists three gasoline engines — a 2.8L overhead-valve V6, a 4.3L overhead-valve V6 of 262 cubic inches and a 2.5L overhead-valve inline-four — and four trims: Base, Gypsy, Sierra Classic and Timberline. The body is the two-door sport utility. Three engines in one vehicle means three sets of tune-up, cooling and accessory figures, and the manual keeps them apart, with procedures, specifications, torque values, wiring diagrams and diagnostics for each.

Known issues on the 1988 S15 Jimmy. Two recalls are on the federal record, both about replacement lamp assemblies sold for these vehicles without the amber side reflectors federal lighting rules require, which makes the vehicle harder to see from the side after dark. Owners have filed two complaints, one against the service brakes and one against the seat belts. The manual covers those systems directly, with lighting circuit wiring diagrams and diagnostics, brake hydraulic and friction procedures and their specifications, and torque values for the restraint mountings.
