Known issues on the 1988 B150. The federal record holds 2 recalls for the 1988 B150. One recalled certain 1988 B150 vans equipped with the 700 amp battery, because the battery could press against the underside of the hood at its vent cap; if the cap was knocked loose, hydrogen could escape and create a fire risk. The fix swapped the three-cell cap for individual cell caps. The other recalled certain 1988 B150 vans with an automatic transmission whose parking rod could hang up without engaging, letting the van roll while the shifter sat in park; the rod assembly was replaced.
