Known issues on the 1986 Colt. Seat belts account for 21 of the 22 owner complaints, and the single recall also concerns them. On certain 1986 Colt vehicles equipped with Takata-made safety belts, the red release button on a front buckle could crack, and fragments falling inside could stop the buckle from latching or releasing properly, leaving the belt unable to protect an occupant. Owners were asked to check both front buckles and have a faulty one replaced or repaired. One complaint reported a fire.
