Known issues on the 1985 L1317. A chafing air line and an axle rating account for the two recalls on the 1985 L1317. In certain heavy-duty trucks equipped with full air brakes, repeated contact between the front shock absorber and the steel tube supplying the front axle brake chamber could open a hole in the tube, so air escaped each time the brakes were used; the fix rerouted or replaced it. Separately, certain heavy-duty trucks equipped with type 14 brake chambers on the rear axle were rerated from 21,200 lbs to 20,000 lbs gross axle weight, bringing them into line with the federal air brake standard, number 121. Brake plumbing, chamber and axle specifications are part of the manual.
