Known issues on the 1984 L1317. Two recalls are recorded for the 1984 L1317, both tied to the braking system. Certain heavy-duty trucks equipped with type 14 brake chambers on the rear axle had to have that axle's weight rating lowered from 21,200 lbs to 20,000 lbs so they met the air brake requirements of federal safety standard 121. Certain heavy-duty trucks equipped with full air brakes had a steel air line to the front brake chamber that could chafe on the front shock absorber, wear a hole and lose pressure during braking, so it was rerouted or replaced.
