Known issues on the 1984 L1316. Both recalls for the 1984 L1316 concern air brakes. On certain heavy-duty trucks equipped with full air brakes, the steel line feeding the front axle brake chamber could rub against the front shock absorber until it wore through, bleeding off pressure when the brakes were applied; the line was rerouted or replaced. The other covered certain heavy trucks, four-wheel models only, where brakes could be slow to release and water entering the rear chambers could weaken the parking brake. That remedy added a quick release valve, a stiffer brake pedal return spring and modified or exchanged rear chambers. Air line routing and brake chamber procedures are included.
