Known issues on the 1984 L1117. Two recalls on the federal record name the 1984 L1117, and both involve the air brakes on certain trucks equipped with them. In the first, covering certain trucks with full air brakes, a steel line feeding a front brake chamber could rub on the front shock absorber until it wore through and bled off pressure under braking; it was rerouted or replaced. In the second, on certain trucks with air brakes, the rear chambers sat high enough above the axle housing that their hose could strike the body underside, so the chambers were lowered and axle stops added except on trucks with a 5900 mm wheelbase.
