Known issues on the 1984 L1113. Three recalls for the 1984 L1113 involve the brakes. On certain heavy-duty trucks equipped with full air brakes, the steel line feeding the front brake chamber could rub against the front shock absorber until a hole wore through and air pressure bled away during braking. Certain heavy trucks could suffer fractures in the bolts holding the rear brake assembly to the axle, leaving the rear brakes ineffective. And on certain heavy trucks equipped with air brakes, the hose atop the rear brake chambers could touch the body's underside, so the chambers were repositioned.
