Following its 2025 refresh, the Taos enters 2026 with standard rear seat belt pretensioners, a stronger 15-watt wireless charger and an eight-speaker audio system on the SEL. The compact SUV is offered as S, SE, SE Black and SEL, all with a 174 hp turbocharged 1.5L inline-four and an eight-speed automatic, with front-wheel drive or 4Motion (SEL is 4Motion only). Because the refresh changed the engine output and transmission lineup, older Taos data no longer fits. Known issues on the 2026 Taos. One recall is on federal record for the 2026 Taos: in a rear-end crash the fuel pressure sensor may dislodge from the fuel tank, which fails the fuel system integrity standard and can let fuel leak, so dealers fit a wiring harness extension.
