Two rows, a sloping roofline and the same 269 hp turbocharged 2.0L inline-four as the bigger Atlas define the 2025 Volkswagen Atlas Cross Sport. Its second year after the 2024 refresh brought a five-trim range: SE, SE with Technology, SEL, SEL R-Line Black and SEL Premium R-Line, with an eight-speed automatic and front-wheel drive or 4Motion. The older VR6 is gone from this generation, so parts and specifications differ from earlier Cross Sports. Known issues on the 2025 Atlas Cross Sport. Five recalls are on federal record for the 2025 Atlas Cross Sport. One covers transmissions that may have been built incorrectly and can lose drive power. Another deals with an engine cover that may have been refitted poorly after service and can melt against hot engine parts, a fire risk. A third fixes a software error that could distort the rearview camera image, and a fourth covers chassis, brake and suspension bolts that may not have been tightened properly during assembly.
