Known issues on the 2024 Tonale. NHTSA lists 8 recalls for the 2024 Tonale. On certain 2024 Tonale plug-in hybrid vehicles, the 12-volt battery positive cable or the high-voltage connector cable might not have been tightened properly, and the connection could overheat into a fire; owners were told to park outside until dealers had inspected the connections and, where needed, tightened them. A second recall concerned certain 2024 Tonale plug-in hybrid vehicles whose brake pedal could fold under the driver's foot and leave the car without braking; that campaign covered 5,974 vehicles, and dealers strengthened the pedal arm. A third, on certain 2024 Tonale vehicles, concerned rear outboard seat belts that could twist and fail to retract. Of 10 owner complaints, 3 apiece name the electrical system, engine, forward collision avoidance and service brakes, and 1 fuel/propulsion. 2 complaints reported a crash.
