Rear seat belt automatic locking retractors may deactivate early, leaving an unsecured child restraint system and increasing the risk of injury during a crash. An incorrectly manufactured passenger air bag may not deploy properly and could eject plastic debris into the passenger compartment, increasing the risk of injury during a crash. A detached electrical connector can delay activation of the restraint systems, including the side air bag, curtain air bag, and seat-belt pretensioners during a side impact crash, increasing the risk of injury. A broken trailing-arm lock nut may misalign the rear axle, causing a loss of control and increasing the risk of a crash. An inaccurate fuel level reading from a stuck fuel sender may cause an engine stall due to lack of fuel, increasing the risk of a crash. A software issue can leave the rearview camera display blank when the vehicle is in reverse, reducing the driver's rear visibility and increasing the risk of a crash. A gateway control module shutdown, caused by liquid spilled in the rear seat, will suddenly reduce engine power, increasing the risk of a crash. An incorrectly labeled brake fluid cap can allow the wrong type of brake fluid to be used, reducing braking ability and increasing the risk of a crash. A software error in the instrument panel display can fail to show critical safety information such as the speedometer or warning lights, increasing the risk of a crash. A separate, later software error can also prevent the rearview camera image from displaying, reducing the driver's view behind the vehicle and increasing the risk of a crash.
